Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge released in 2010, it starred Ajay Devgn and Konkona Sen Sharma. Even if the film had no good story the actors were enough to pull audience to cinema hall to recover the cost. Thankfully it was a decent film. Ashwni Dhir has come up with another film on same plot. This one stars Kartik Aaryan whom we all loved in Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and Kriti Kharbanda who did a forgettable film named Raaz Reboot. So the point of saying all this is that Guest Iin London is not that good but it is also not that bad as it was expected to be. I was in for a sort of surprise while watching Guest Iin London.
So the story of the film is Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Kharbanda decide to get married so that Kartik gets UK citizenship. Paresh Rawal and Tanvi Azmi come as unwated guest at their place and everything that happens after that is all about Guest Iin London. The first hour of the film is everything. There is good humor, you enjoy the film like anything and more importantly you dont realize how the hour passed. In this one hour story moves at a jet speed. Little before the interval the problem starts. Unnecessary songs, story moves nowhere and the film becomes a repeat telecast of Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge. The interval scene and almost the entire second half is ditto same as Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, even the dialogues are not changed. That spoils the entire fun of the film. Had there been something new im the film Guest Iin London could habe been a thoroughly enjoyable film. The only change im this one is that there is a motive behind the guest coming but that emotional intention does not affect you emotionally while watching the film.
Paresh Rawal who is suppose to be star of Guest Iin London is not even one percent different from Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge. If you enjoyed him there you will enjoy his act here as well. Kartik Aaryan is still in Pyaar Ka Punchnama mode, he is decent and adorable but that is just not enough. Kriti Kharbanda makes you forget her presence in Raaz Reboot. She has improved a lot, suits the character amd looks very promising. Tanvi Azmi has little to do in the film but she leaves a mark with her ordinary act. Sanjay Mishra is just okay.
Ashwni Dhir’s direction is very average, nothing special about it. The songs in the film are easily forgettable. VFX of the film is just bad. Editing of the film is quite good. There is some good humour in the film and some very bad humor which should not have been in the film at all. Making fun of skin tone and peoples nationality is not at all funny.
Overall Guest Iin London is not completely unbearable but not even worth taking time out to watch it. Watch it when you have nothing else to do.
