MERI PYAARI BINDU

It is  easy to make love stories especially in Hindi Cinema as half of the plot is ready even before the evolution of the script. Making the love story stand out or different from others is a task which is next to impossible. It will be wrong and right at the same time to say that Meri Pyaari Bindu is a different love story. It is cliched for most of the part but when it comes to standing out from the others it leaves every other love story behind.

Meri Pyaari Bindu starts on a highly disappointing note. It takes twenty minutes to start the actual story and the time pass in first twenty minutes literally makes you regret your decision. Post that film has some lighthearted moments, some extremely enjoyable moments but overall the first half of Meri Pyaari Bindu is scattered and the writer is very confused as to eventually where the film will lead to. By interval you are partially satisfied but look forward to the second half. Post interval screenplay is more strong with mature writing. At the end of the film it all boils down to the fantastic realistic approach given to this cliched love story. As the film is approaching its final moment you just forget the bland first half and enjoy every single moment as the love story becomes interesting. It is difficult to not like the unconventional and heartbreaking climax. You do not want this to happen but Akshay Roy nicely prepares you for this not a happy ending.

The treatment of the film does not seem right. The film’s time-frame is from 70’s-80’s to present day. It is very difficult to differentiate between two eras everything looks the same. 90’s don’t look like 90’s it looks like 2017. Lots of old songs have been used in the film, they work well at some places but at few places they just seem unnecessary.

Two flawless things in Meri Pyaari Bindu are; performances and music. Ayushmann Khurrana is just outstanding, even in the least interesting first half of the film his act makes it all worthy. He emotes every single situation with utmost perfection. It is not difficult but impossible to find any flaws in Ayushmann’s performance. You cannot not notice and appreciate his act in Meri Pyaari Bindu. Parineeti Chopra is overall decent in the film and shines in selective scenes. Sachin-Jigar’s compositions are soul of the film. The songs may be incorrectly placed but they are just beautiful and enjoyable. Lyrics describe the situation best making the songs even more lovely. Album that deserves a place in your collection.

Overall Meri Pyaari Bindu tests your patience initially but eventually leaves you happy and satisfied. The climax wins your heart. It is a story every other boy must have gone through in the chapter of love in his life. Most importantly you need to understand that particular emotion of love the director has portrayed in Meri Pyaari Bindu. It is a one sided love story and is heart breaking but it is good.
