Love stories always have the scope to be made differently and put themselves above everyone else. Like always many love stories in Bollywood fail to break the stereotype and provide something different. Junooniyat falls in that bracket; same old boy meets girl love story presented in same old ways with same old twists and turns. No doubt the film is predictable but its barely enjoyable. Junooniyat in just bearable.
Film starts on a very boring note. First ten minutes in the film and you fell like walking away. Since you have paid for the ticket you somehow force yourself and sit throughout the film. What comes to you is nothing but a sweet chemistry between the protagonists Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam. Few sweet moments and some decent songs, that’s all about Junooniyat. The only people who will enjoy Junooniyat are die hard fans of Pulkit Smarat and Yami Gautam. Unfortunately there are many of them.
Pulkit Samrat is there in the film just for his good looks. He has not given some exceptional performance, in fact any other guy would have suited the role. Yami Gautam tries to be like Anushka Sharma from Band Baaj Baraat, that’s all I can say about her performance. Clueless why a talent like Gulshan Devaiah would waste his time on such film. Vivek Agnihotri is way beyond ordinary as a romantic film maker. Junooniyat in face has many sequences inspired from movies like Band Baaja Baaraat and Dil Toh Pagal Hai. The only good thing in the film are the locations.
Overall Junooniyat is not all recommended even if you enjoy watching light hearted romantic films.
