It wont be wrong to say Phuntroo is that refreshing Marathi film as it’s been a long time where science and technology has dominated the script of the film. The trailer of Phuntroo promised a love story with a backdrop of technology but the film is the other way round.
Throughout the film I was waiting for the romance and chemistry between Mandar Deodhar and Ketaki Mategaonkar, sadly there isn’t any romance between them throughout the film. In first half there are romantic songs featuring them and one climax scene where Ketaki shows love for Mandar.
Story is all about college life; friendship, competition which is beautifully shown in the film. All the moments will definitely make you miss your college days, especially engineering students.
Mandar Deodhar and Ketaki Mategaonkar have performed exceptionally well. Ketaki Mategaonkar is the scene stealer. The supporting cast have performed their parts perfectly. Sujay Dahake has successfully managed to give you a two hours entertaining film with an above average story. Film does not bore you for a single second and that’s because of Sujay Dahake’s execution. Music in the film is fairly good. Editing is decent. Cinematography and production design is noteworthy.
Overall Phuntroo is an enjoyable fare for youngsters. I honestly had bad expectations from the film but I quite enjoyed it. So watch it once for just good timepass.
