TAMASHA

Imtiaz Ali was crystal clear when he decided to make this film, which is clearly visible on screen. Trailer of Tamasha wasn’t impressive enough but the film is very impressive. Trailer confused you by saying it’s just another boy meets girl story which Tamasha is, but all thanks to Imtiaz Ali that he executed it in such a realistic way making it different from the others.

Pluses of the film are flawless performances of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, unusual direction of Imtiaz Ali, brilliant music of A.R.Rahman and upto an extent films cinematography.
Ranbir Kapoor is an altogether different person/actor when he is in Corsica. His Dev Anand act declares him an exceptional actor. When Ranbir becomes a mature and mediocre citizen he is just phenomenal. Variations in his act which happens in fraction of a second are simply outstanding. Ranbir doesn’t give you a chance to question his performance even for a second. He is indeed back with a bang, but did he actually disappear. Deepika Padukone is like a powerhouse of talent in Tamasha. Even a simple thing like just exchanging a look is perfect to the T. In fact it is difficult to say who is better performer; Ranbir or Deepika. Sadly Deepika’s presence in second half is very limited and you miss her terribly in second half. Imtiaz Ali was phenomenal as a director in capturing some simple scenes extraordinarily by just placing the camera differently. He also managed to get top notch performances from his protagonists. No need to mention how amazing is the music of legendary A.R.Rahman. Album is must have in your music library. Like any other film cinematography in this Imtiaz Ali film was also a visual treat.

First half of Tamasha is just amazing with beautiful locations, best songs and one of its kind performance of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Since the film has a very ordinary storyline the film smartly takes an interesting turn before it becomes boring. All thanks to smart editing. Problem starts when the film reaches the interval. It becomes very clichéd and unfortunately also predictable. Thanks to great scenes with perfect direction and performances that you are engrossed in the film. Special mention to Heer song where Imtiaz beautifully portrayed sad phase in the film with this happy song.

Overall Tamasha is a one time must watch. It’s a joyful entertaining ride with rockstars named Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Imtiaz Ali and A.R.Rahman.
