Sooraj Barjatya is back and struggles to maintain the balance between his style of film making and contemporary commercial cinema. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is a pure blend of these two. Salman Khan makes a grand entry in the film. He punches two goons wearing a dhoti kurta making an entry in Ram-Leela. Just what I meant in my very first line. The scene could have been sober and completely Sooraj Barjatya style but it is Salman so it has to be grand with some maar dhaad.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has a very very old storyline. As the film progress it becomes predictable which is not enjoyable. Film loses its charm there. Not to worry Sooraj Barjatya comes to rescue with his lavish production design, simple and beautiful performances and too many songs. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo works for all these things only. Film has a good album but songs seem to be forced at many places. Films pace dips big time at places especially in the first half where the story seems to be halted. Second half begins on a slow note but towards the climax you are satisfied with the film.

Salman Khan undoubtedly is the star of the film. He has delivered a lovable performance like always and his fans won’t be disappointed at all. Sonam Kapoor is beautiful and her performance is magical. All thanks to Sooraj Barjatya. Her fan following will definitely increase after this film. Supporting cast of the film; Neil Nitin Mukesh, Swara Bhaskar, Armaan Kohli, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra and Anupam Kher are perfect in their roles.

Editing of the film is just up to the mark. Slight mistake would have costed the film a lot. Film is close to three hours but you do not look at your watch even once. Production design needs special mention for the breathtaking sets in the film. Background score helps big time making the scene enjoyable. It’s a typical Sooraj Barjatya type background score with chorus.

Overall Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is a one time must watch because you never know when will Sooraj Barjatya direct again and you will get a chance to see his films on big screen. Salman Khan fans won’t miss this film for sure. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo does not manage fire crackers this festive season but is definitely sweet enough to not spoil your festival fun.
