Hamari Adhuri Kahani is that incomplete love story that makes you feel complete by the end of it. Especially when the start of the film is so mediocre that makes you question the talent of the director who has made some successful love stories in the past. The reaction one will have by the interval is brilliant writing spoiled by weak execution. Thoroughly disengaging first half is saved by the flawless performances. Mohit Suri makes sure that he satisfy his audience and is back with a bang in second half. Hamari Adhuri Kahani is a different love story as it doesn’t have typical happy ending but the entire story is filled with lots of pain and sorrow with some happy moments in it. Story is the strongest point of the film. If Hamari Adhuri Kahani was a book it would have definitely topped the best seller list.
Hamari Adhuri Kahani works big time because of the performances. Emraan Hashmi is excellent. He defines himself as an emotional yet a loveable hero. His eyes expressed a lot in the film taking his performance to a different level. His fans are in for a treat with this film. Vidya Balan has explored yet another side of an actress in herself. Her performance in few scenes gives you goosebumps. Emraan and Vidya both look stunning together and prove themselves to be the most likeable onscreen couple. Rajkummar Rao shines in his small role. Mohit Suri lacks confidence in his own art but gradually deliver what his audience like. Direction was simply good. Background score and music of Hamari Adhuri Kahani is soulful and melodious like all Mohit Suri films. The pace of the film fluctuates yet editing is not likely to be complained about. Visually the film is eye pleasing with some beautiful locations yet is very realistic.
Flawless performances along soothing music, extravagant drama and Mahesh Bhatt’s outstanding writing makes Hamari Adhuri Kahani a beautiful watch. Recommended.
