BALKADU

Balkadu talks about the self respect, pride of a Maharashtrian common man. Film tells nothing new, first major disappointment comes with that. Film is on the similar lines of Mee Shivaji Raje Bhosle Boltoy and Swarajya, second disappointment. The only new thing in this which was not there in the previous ones was, the protagonist can hear Balasaheb Thackrey which was seen in Lagey Raho Munnabhai where Munna can hear Mahatma Gandhi, third disappointment.

Balkadu offers nothing new, the only factor that favors the film is its topic; which was, is and will always be relevant for Marathi film audience. It manages to hold on your attention but the film has same incidents and same kind of dialogues which make the film monotonous.

Umesh Kamat did what was demanded by the role. It looked something different form what he has done previously in films. Remaining cast was casted seeing who is good at what. Music was below average and editing of the film was just decent.

Balkadu is for Marathi film lovers. If a Bollywood fan can enjoy differently presented same rom-com then a Marathi movie fan can enjoy this one which has nothing new in it. Watch it at your own risk.
