A.R.Murugadoss for a change comes with up with not just an entertaining fare but entertainment along with awareness. Kaththi has a simple plot that deals with water issues. The scenario can be in any part of the country but the film being set in south showcases the problem of that particular region.
Murugadoss needs to be applauded for his attempt to give his fans something else with just entertainment. Initial half an hour of Kaththi is uninteresting, the only saving grace during this time are the songs. Post that it takes you on a thrilling journey. Vijay is one of the major reason for the film turning out to be so well. His performance is flawless and he proves that these roles were written for him. He is superb as Kathiresan and Jeevanandham. With such performance his fans are in for a treat. Samantha the sad part of the film. Bad part about her is that she is there ik the film. Good part about her is that she has very little to do and her character is not at all prominent in the film. Neil Nitin Mukesh is stunning at what he does best in Bollywood. Antagonist is his safe zone and he has played his part perfectly on Kaththi. Other good thing about the film is its background score which keeps you engaged most of the time. Editing could have been better if the initial thirty minutes would have been trimmed. Screenplay would have been more better without Ankita’s character in it. The character serves no purpose in the film.
On the whole Murgadoss has raised the bar of his own films by providing such sensible entertaining fare. This needs to be watched for Vijay and Murgadoss efforts.
