2 STATES

Films based on famous novels generally have two clear opinions, one of those who have read the novel and others who have not read novel. One who have read the novel expect a lot more from the film, but 2 States is a film which will make you realize the missing parts from the novel even though you have not read it. All thanks to the promos of the film which raised the expectations and disappointed you at some point in the film. This is the first and last flaw of the film.

2 States is a refreshing film because of its lead pair Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, melodious music of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Abhishek Varman’s direction which take you in Krish and Ananya’s world and give a beautiful message through this film that needs to be given to every single person on this planet. The film starts bang on with the college life of Krish and Ananya which is very entertaining and most importantly relatable. Post that Abhishek loses his balance a bit and is confused how to move ahead. Few boring portions in the first half but then second half of the film takes off very well. So many amazing moments in the film that makes you say very true or it’s always like this. Alia Bhatt is the next big thing in bollywood. Her performance is simply beautiful. Her transformation from Shanaya to Veera to Ananya is worth praising. Alia Bhatt has given her best shot. Arjun Kapoor’s performance seems to be good just because this is something he is doing it for the first time. Decent performance, but could have been better. Others who surprise you with their performances are Amrita Singh and Revathy. Their acti is simply outstanding. Performance wise 2 States get double thumbs up. Music of the film is pitch perfect. No full songs in the film but they rightly set the mood of the film. On the whole the album is too good. Editing of the film could have been better. Instead of beating around the bush the director could have shot some other portions of the novel and included in the film.

Overall 2 States is a good film that needs to be watched for the effort of three people: Abhishek Varman, Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor. It’s a good entertainment and it has good song and dance too. No matter how much part of the film was uninteresting but when you leave the theatre you leave it with a smile on your face and that makes this one an absolutely recommended fare.
