GUNDAY (Music)

After impressing us by the amazing trailer the film has surely made it’s fan wait for the music of the film. The music is finally out and just one word to describe it, outstanding. Sohail Sen has done an amazing job with this one. He has always given some brilliant music but the film’s have not worked. This man is proving himself with his work, and this one can be considered as his best work till date. If you are a true Bollywood music fan then this deserves to be in your collection. Thoroughly enjoyable music with blend of songs for all moods. This deserves full marks for composing music perfect to the T in terms of the look and feel of the film.

Jashn-e-Ishqa sung by Javed Ali and Shadab Faridi is full on celebration mood song. The lyrics of the song make it clear that it is the introductory song of the two protagonists of the film. Pretty good tone and quite impressive composition makes this song catchy enough and the tone of lines Jashn-e-Ishqa makes it catchy. Tune Maari Entriyaan, the song starts with Bengali words but then it is a complete fun song and funny lyrics and composition of the song make you laugh. The way song is sung make you visualize the song. The innovation in the composition is clearly visible even though the tone may sound ordinary and repetitive the song creates a pretty good impact. Bangla Version of this song is sung by Bappi Lahri and Monali Thakur. There is a different magic in Bappi Da’s voice which makes this version sound better and more enjoyable than the original version. Arijit Singh is just getting better with his every song. He is competing himself with the songs he is singing. Jiya stands out in the entire album just because of him. Very ordinary lyrics which portrays a lover missing his love but then Arijit Singh is the true star of this song, the composition is also very impressive. This song will make you hear it with much intensity and once you are in love with it you will just go in different world, all thanks to Arijit Singh. Asalaam-e-Ishqum starts in a seductive voice of Neha Bhasin who is then joined by Bappi Lahri. The song starts of pretty well but then loses its charm due to it’s ordinary composition and there is nothing novel in vocals of this song. Both the singers have sung the way they have sung their previous songs. Saaiyaan sung by Shahid Mallya is a slow sad song. The composition is also very slow, sad with good variation in it, it might also remind you of any other songs of same genre but this one do create an impact, enough pain in the song to make this your first choice when you are depressed in love. Shahid Mallya has done a very good job. Mann Kunto Maula in Altamash Faridi and Shadab Faridi’s voice is a song which starts traditionally with slow tone but with the introduction of modern composition in between, the song is something different. It’s that song from the album which you can hear closing your eyes, forgetting everything. Amazingly composed and beautifully sung. The Classical version of this song is equally good. Undoubtedly one of the best track of the album (both the versions). The song is very mesmerizing maybe because of giving it a slight touch of devotional song. Gunday is very fast paced song and completely influenced by western music but then Sohail Sen’s voice gives it an Indian touch, amazing song. Rhythm of Jashn-e-Ishqa is an instrumental track with very little vocal of Shadab Faridi. This song gives you an altogether different feel and takes you in the world of these Gundays. Very much fast and catchy also.

My Rating: 4/5
