Finally some different genre in comedy in bollywood. First of it’s kind war comedy War Chhod Na Yaar (WCNY) has made a very good effort putting all their heart and soul in making this film. The film is definitely first of it’s kind but then it could not manage to reach at that level where it should have reached.
The film has many things going in favour of it, like the concept itself, then giving such an serious issue a comic touch, plus showing a picture which the entire nation would love to see, brotherhood between India and Pakistan. Having so much with them the maker haven’t utilised it’s entire resources. Completely set and shot around border a story of two army forces who live like friends yet behave like professional when it comes to work. A reporter comes to cover a story at border and gets a reality check, executed nicely in a fun way by the director. Sharman Joshi, Javed Jaffrey, Soha Ali Khan, Sanjay Mishra, Dalip Tahil were all good in their respective roles. Nothing extraordinary about their performance but good. Director does a decent job but could have been better.
The film has the potential for the sole reason of bringing something new to the audience. But then the film fails badly in keeping you engaged throughout. The film does not bore you but it does not even make you feel very much interested in it. Something is happening on the screen and you are watching it. This is the scenario in the entire film. You can make out while watching the film that it’s a good stuff yet below average direction makes it bland. The climax grabs your attention for a second but then it’s the same stuff, people reacting to India-Pakistan war type relations, youth angry on social media etc which in no more a new thing in bollywood movies. Watch this film once without spending much for it’s new concept.
