The successful Yamla Pagla Deewana (YPD) is back with its second installment Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (YPD2). This time the makers as well as the starcast who were promoting the film promised double the action, romance, comedy, drama and what not, but unfortunately they could not even manage to reach half the level of their previous film.

Dharam (Dharmendra) and Gajodhar (Bobby Deol) have continued their business of conning people in Varanasi. Paramveer (Sunny Deol) who is away from them is under the misconception that his brother and father are earning their livelihood innocently. Dharam and Gajodhar are planning to con Yograj Khanna (Annu Kapoor) who is seeking help from Paramveer in his business, meanwhile Gajodhar and Paramveer are trying their luck in impressing Yograj’s daughters Suman (Neha Sharma) and Reet (Kristina Akheeva). Such is not so great plot of YPD 2.

The performances of the film are very much average. None of the actor have managed to impress us by their acting. Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby are same as they were in YPD, no improvement at all. Neha Sharma was decent as she had nothing much to do in the film. Kristina Akheeva barely had some screen space so she did not get requires amount of screen space to showcase her talent. Annu Kapoor and Anupam Kher seem to be wasted. Similarly Johnny Lever and Sucheta Khanna are of no use in the film. In fact the plot of Anupam Kher, Johnny Lever and Sucheta Khanna adds nothing to the film and seems to be total wastage of time and their talent.

The direction of the film by Sangeet Sivan was very weak. Every frame seemed to be repetitive and very ordinary, seen en number of times in many films earlier. Story was the weakest. In fact, in some of the post interval portions one can literally feel like asking what the hell is going on. Music of the film is the only good thing in the entire film. This is what the makers have managed to live upon what they said. Double than the first part. The music was much better than the previous film.

Overall YPD 2 is a bearable film provided you enjoy ant sort of film. If not then better stay away from these Yamla, Pagla and Deewana. The film manages to bring some smile and makes you laugh slightly but then lack of good script is going against the film. Even if the film is not good on paper one can manage to make it interesting on screen but the makers have failed to do so. Even the monkey and sumo wrestlers could not save the film. This is not recommended, better go and watch Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani again.
