The film having a tremendous expectation does not need an introduction. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD), one of the most awaited movie of the year released and had managed to surpass all the expectations it created prior to its release. The film is simple and beautiful.

Kabir/Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) and Naina (Deepika Padukone) who are schoolmates meet after a very long time while going on a trek. Both of them are going with their friends Aditi (Kalki Koechlin) and Avi (Aditya Roy Kapoor). All of them have loads of fun, explore lots of things over time, their friendship takes a turn making their relations better and worse. During trek Naina falls in love with Bunny but could not express her love because she thinks Bunny’s dream is more important to him. She forgets about it and then both of them meet after 8 years at Aditi’s wedding. Will Naina and Buny will express their love to each other?? Simple is the story of the film beautifully told.

Ranbir Kapoor as Bunny is outstanding. His performance is getting better with each and every film. His character is very well written and the youth could easily relate to. Ranbir has already joined the race to win the Best Actor Trophy again. Deepika Padukone as Naina is good. Even her character is very well written and easy to relate to but she impresses you with her acting capabilities in bits and parts. No doubt she impresses you with her beauty and expressions. Kalki Koechlin as Aditi surprises you by her performance. This the first time she has done such role and done it with perfection. Kalki is one fantastic performer. Aditya Roy Kapoor as Avi is repetitive. His performance reminds you of his work in his previous films like Aashiqui 2 , Guzaarish, Action Replayy. This guy needs to work a lot on his performance. Other actors like Farooque Sheikh, Tanvi Azmi, Rana Daggubati, Poorna Jaganath, Kunal Roy Kapoor, Dolly Ahluwalia all of them have done a brilliant job especially Farooque Sheikh. Overall performances of the film were good.

Ayan Mukherji back after his last successful venture Wake Up Sid. Ayan has managed to make a simple and en number of times seen story very engaging and entertaining. Direction of the film is very good. Story is average and screenplay of the film is good. Well written characters and incidents. Cinematography of the film is the plus point of the film. In the first half the cinematographer has managed to give some breath taking shots. Dialogues of the film are ordinary but some lines are just outstanding. Especially all the lines by Farooque Sheikh, though his lines are ordinary but the way he delivered his dialogues takes that scene to another level. Editing of the film is good. Initially the pace of the film is quite slow but gradually it picks up.

Pritam; the composer of the film has done a fantastic job. The music of the film is outstanding. It is one of the plus point of the film. All the songs Badtameez Dil, Balam Pichkari, Ghahra, Kabira, Subhanallah, Diliwali Girlfriend, Kabira, Ilahi sung by Benny Dayal, Shalmali Kholgade, Vishal Dadlani, Rekha Bhardwaj, Arijit Singh are amazing. The lyrics of some songs are good while some songs have average lyrics. Difficult to choose few good songs but still to name few it would be Kabira, Diliwali Girlfriend, Badtameez Dil and Balam Pichkari. Overall music of the film is outstanding and has a strong chance to be among the best music album on 2013.

YJHD is a simple film made with innocence and lots of efforts. Hats off Ayan Mukherji for making a very simple concept into such a beautiful film which teach you lots of things. It’s up to you what you want to take away from the movie. Few flaws like when Deepika has come on a trek to enjoy as per her why would she behave a nerd there among her friends and who celebrates holi with so much fun and excitement in Manali, really?? The film shows some beautiful moments of parenthood and friendship. More than love it’s a film about relations be it relation between parents or more importantly friends. Go and enjoy the film.
