Films on friendship find it very easy to connect to the audience as everyone of us have friends. The way the makers of the film handle this friendship premise is what needs to be seen in the film. Chashme Baddoor is a remake and it is also a kind of film that has been made many times in Hindi Cinema. David Dhavan strikes a right chord with the audience this time as he did back in 90′s.

Story of three friends Sid/Siddharth (Ali Zafar), Omi (Divyendu Sharma) and Jai (Siddharth Narayan). Sid is very intelligent and a sweet, smart boy, a typical boyfriend/groom material which every girl would like to have. Omi and Jai are always least bothered about what is happening around them and just live life the way it comes. They always chase girls. One fine day all these three guys gets a new neighbour, Seema (Taapsee Pannu) who is sweet and simple. Omi and Jai try to impress Seema but fail badly. One fine day due to some confusion Seema and Sid meet and start liking each other. When Omi and Jai come to know about Seema-Sid romance they try to break the relation between Seema and Sid. When they realise that Sid is very serious about Seema, Jai and Omi try to sort things between Sid and Seema. That’s the simple story of Chashme Baddoor.

Ali Zafar as Sid was good. Compared to his earlier two films he was almost the same. No such change in his acting . Overall Ali was good but could have been better. Divyendu Sharma as Omi lived up to the little expectations he had created from Pyaar Ka Punchnama. He was very good and his shayari’s makes you laugh. Siddharth as Jai was surprisingly good. Here he was fun filled and chilled out guy unlike his serious role in his previous films. It is fun to watch him on screen. Such a nice performance from him was unexpected. Divyendu and Siddharth did such a great job that Ali seemed to be bit bland in front of them. Both of them grab your attention and gives you no time to notice Ali. In fact scenes which have all three of them, the limelight is grabbed by Divyendu and Siddharth. Taapsee Pannu who debuted in Bollywood with this film has amazing confidence in her. She was sweet and simple but performed brilliantly. She was way better than any other newcomer in recent times. The supporting cast included Rishi Kapoor, Lilette Dubey, Anupam Kher and Bharti Achrekar. All of them were apt to the role and gave proper and good support to this young cast. It won’t be wrong to say the performances of the film is the biggest plus point of the film.

David Dhavan who made some amazing comedies in 90′s is back after his last disaster directorial venture Rascals. The best thing about the director with this film is that he managed to work with young cast and understood the taste of current generation and have made a remake accordingly unlike Himmatwala. Director is one man who needs to be appreciated for his little innovation and his style of direction. Being a remake story by Sai Paranjpe was simple. It was a normal comic caper. Screenplay by Sai Paranjpe and David Dhavan is worth appreciating the characters and incidents in the film are simple but yet beautifully written and very well executed. Sajid Farhad dialogues were very funny. Some of them were normal SMS jokes but some of the dialogues were very hilarious. Dialogues surely deserve some whistle’s and clap’s. Cinematography was very ordinary. Goa is nicely captured. So many films shot in Goa that it has started looking like a monotonous thing. Editing was good. The film was properly edited. Some sequences in the film made it predictable but that didn’t spoil the movie.

Sajid-Wajid’s music is good but nothing new. Har Ek Friend Kamina , Ishq Mohalla and Dichkayoon Dhoom Dhoom are very ordinary songs. These are typical friendship songs which are required in such film so nothing great about these songs. Early Morning sung by Sonu Nigam is a good track. The song has a good feel and Sonu’s voice make the song special. Andha Ghoda Race Mein Dauda is a good song because of it’s picturisation. The song looks good. Overall the music of the film is above average. Background score of the film is quite good and give a good feel to the film.

Chashme Baddoor is an out an out slapstick comedy. But this one is not like the other mindless slapstick humor. This film has a very good entertainment value. If you enjoy David Dhawan movies you are in for a treat. The movie won’t disappoint you at any cost. I personally had zero expectations from this movie and turned out to be quite a good one. So go have good fun with this film. A perfect choice for this weekend. Go for it for a good entertainment.
