SOS starts with awesome entry of Ajay Devgn followed by the title track. The story of the film is very simple. Two families Randhawa Family and Sandhu Family have fight and end up killing the head of the respective families. The fight continues in the next generation also. Jaswinder [Jassi] Randhawa (Ajay Devgan) is the only member of Randhawa family. The motive of Sandhu family is to kill Jassi the only member of Randhawa family. Meanwhile Jassi falls in love with Sukhmeet (Sonakshi Sinha) who happens to be sister of Billu Sandhu (Sanjay Dutt). The film is about all this revenge tackled comically with some good one liners. Will Billu succeeded in killing Jassi and will Jassi get Sukhmeet or she will go with Bobby (Arjan Bajwa) find out in Son Of Sardaar.
Ajay Devgn as a good heart Sardar is good and very different in this film. He is innocent and shy and portrayed these things very nicely. He is good in action, comedy, romance. Sonakshi Sinha is good as a Punjabi girl. Her Punjabi dialogues are nice and she speaks Punjabi very well in the film. Apart from this she is ordinary as she in every other film. Sanjay Dutt as a bad man is very convincing and looks perfect as a villian. He played his part very well. Juhi Chawla has small but good role. She also does a good job. Other actors like Arjan Bajwa, Vindu Singh, Mukul Dev, Tanuja play their respective parts very well. Salman Khan in a special appearance is a trat for all the audience.
Music of the film is ordinary. Title Track, Rani Tu Mai Raja, Po Po, Bichdan, Tu Kamaal Di Kudi, Ye Halki Halki Khumariya. All these songs are full on Punjabi tracks. Nothing great in music. It’s simply an ordinary music.
Director Ashwini Dhir played safe by making an entertainer by taking concept from south film. His direction is average. Action director of the film is the true hero of the film. All the action sequences in the film are shot brilliantly. Even though they don’t match the level of other Hindi action films they are good to see in the film. Cinematographer has shot nicely most of the film is shot in the interior. Screenplay is good. All the characters of the film are very well written.
Overall SOS is a good attempt. It makes you laugh and entertain you completely in the fist half of the film, but the film falls flat post interval and all the fun starts missing. The second half of the film is terrible. It’s an exercise in boredom. SOS fails to create a solid impact as other Ajay Devgn film’s do. This one watch it at your own risk.
My Verdict 2/5
