Chakravyuh deals with the topic of Naxals as seen in the promo’s of the film. Adil (Arjum Rampal) and Kabir (Abhay Deol) were best friend which became enemies and now again become friends. Adil gets a mission where he has to vacate Naxals from their place so that the place is free for Industrialists to carry on their business on that place. After making many attempts Adil see’s no success in his mission nor he see’s any possibility of achieving his goals. Kabir comes to his rescue and tries to help his friend Adil in accomplishing his mission. He goes in the Naxalities area live with them and provides all their information to Adil. Meanwhile Kabir realizes that he is wrong and that he should help Naxals and not his friend Adil. Whether Kabir helps his friend Adil or becomes a part of Naxals group is to be found by watching Chakravyuh.
All the actors, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, Abhay Deol, Esha Gupta, Om Puri have done a good job but nothing extraordinary or innovation in their performances. In fact Manoj Bajpayee’s talent is wasted and he hardly has some screen time. Rest all of them we have seen them doing such wok in some or the other film. Anjali Patil does a very good job as a Naxalite. She is the only one whose performance can be appreciated. All the other actors are simply ordinary. This time Prakash Jha failed to create an impact because of his actors as he did in his earlier films like Rajneeti, Aarakshan, Aapaharan etc.
Music of the film has no scope at all. No doubt the songs fit the film but none of the song has the scope of being chartbuster. Sameers Reddy’s item number also does not match the level of other item numbers of recent times. Overall the music of Chakravyuh is dull.
Director Prakash Jha has played safe by again doing what he is good at, bringing a nice real issue and blending it with entertainment. As a director he has done a good job but still he could have done better provided he could have given time for this film. The story and screenplay is just too good. Cinematographer has managed to shot very nicely in some real jungles and made the film look real.
Overall the film is good. The film will cater to both masses as well as classes. It needs to be watched once by everyone. This one is Recommended.
My Verdict 3.5/5
